as a mascot so we are going to ask you, the fans, to
select his name. We have set a voting poll for you to
select the name you like most. Make sure you vote in
and we will select the most voted name on April 15.
03/11/10 Coach Unger gets a special invite from Elmira Jackals Head Coach
Steve Martinson to come on the bench for a period to get a taste of Pro Hockey. "I went up with Coach Simmons to a game in Elmira to get a look at all that goes on behind the scenes and the
preparation before a game. He then
introduced me to his Head Coach,
Steve Martinson and Coach
Simmons stated if I wanted any
pointers I should ask now. Next
thing I know, Coach Martinson
asked me if I want to go on the
bench with him for a period to see
how it all works at the Pro level.
The game is so much faster and
you have so many things that are
happening all at once. It was a great way for me to see how the communication and systems work at the next level, in which I can utilize some things I learned in just one period of hockey. I also can see why Coach Martinson has a winning track record. I thank Coach Martinson and Coach Simmons for allowing me the opportunity to experience hockey at the Pro level", stated Coach Unger of the Philadelphia Jackals.
03/10/10 The Philadelphia Thunder has officially announced their name change to the Philadelphia Jackals, which will begin play in the IJHL in the upcoming 2010-11 season. "With all the problems we had this past season in the league we were in; with teams folding and cancelling games we needed to look out for our players and the organization in general. As for the team name change, we planned on making that move whether we changed leagues or not. The league change was also for demographics, as all the teams we play are on the east coast, so in turn this also means we will no longer have to travel out west", stated Coach Simmons.
